Dr. Daniel Barwick served for eight years as the President of Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas, and also served as the president of the statewide organization of community colleges. Originally from New York, he was previously the Director of Institutional Advancement at Alfred State College and Executive Director of the Alfred State College Development Fund, Inc. in Alfred, New York. Formerly a tenured professor of philosophy in the State University of New York, he was the President of the New York State Association of Scholars, as well as the President of the American Association for Learning Outcomes Assessment. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from the State University of New York at Geneseo, a Master’s Degree in Philosophy from the University of Iowa, and a PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a graduate of Leadership Kansas, and in 2016 was named by Ingram’s Business Magazine as one of “Fifty Kansans You Should Know.” He lives in Independence with his wife and two daughters.
